World Class Pianist Tomoki Sakata

The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown is proud to present a performance by world class Japanese pianist Tomoki Sakata.  He will be joined by Youngstown Symphony Orchestra Music Director Randall Craig Fleischer.  Sakata was among the top six finalists during the 2013 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.  Also a prize winner at various competitions throughout Asia and Europe, Mr. Sakata has appeared in concert in cities across the globe including, Osaka, Tokyo, Geneva, Paris, Prague and Moscow.

If you have an iPad, but don’t know how to use it, this class is perfect for you! iPad 101 will show you how to set up an email account and App store account, use the App Store, install new Apps, and organize your Apps.  You’ll also learn basic functions of the iPad.

This class is for people who have a basic knowledge of their iPad, but want to learn more.  This course will show you how to organize your photos, sync your iPad with your iPhone or iTunes and use programs like drop box.  You’ll also learn how to use your iPad to stay in touch with family and friends.

 Author Maggie Anton

Maggie Anton is the award-winning author of historical fiction series “Rashi’s Daughters” and “Rav Hisda’s Daughter.” She is a Talmud scholar, with expertise in Jewish women’s history.  Anton will discuss the research behind her new historical novel Enchantress: A novel of Rav Hisda’s Daughter.  The novel weaves together Talmudic lore, ancient Jewish magic, and a timeless love story set in fourth-century Babylonia.  Based on five years of research and populated with characters from the Talmud, Enchantress brings a pivotal era of Jewish and Christian history to life from the perspective of a courageous and passionate woman.
