By the two wonderful Young shlichim Shay and Einat Kozer-Niego, now ending their two years of Shlichut in Youngstown, Ohio
Our Shlichut in Youngstown
At the middle of the year 2007, we suddenly realized that this is it. Life has started. University - done, carrier - at the beginning and the lifelong race of getting around the world is here. We wanted some time, we weren't ready for it, not yet, and we looked at options. We came across the Young Shlichut Program and thought it might be it: the Jewish Agency sends young couples or single Israelis, in the ages 23 - 30, to small Jewish communities around the world.

As one of 16 U.S. Jewish communities within the UJC central region that join together to collaborate with Western Galilee, a strip of land along the Mediterranean Sea, through Partnership with Israel, the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas is making a direct impact on the day-to-day lives of Israeli citizens. By forming this partnership, the Federation has helped transform the fundraiser/beneficiary relationship Americans have traditionally had with Israelis into a true partnership of peers, cooperating to build stronger ties between Israel and the Jewish people. The people of Western Galilee hope for peace and work toward economic and cultural development and do so with help from their Partnership with Israel friends in America.
Developed in 1994, Partnership with Israel (formerly Partnership 2000) helps Jews living in Israel and the Diaspora bridge the geographic and cultural gaps separating them. Focusing on the joint goals of developing Israel's peripheries and intensifying Jewish identity, Partnership emphasizes personal interaction among members of overseas Jewish communities—including Dallas—and their partners in 28 Israeli development regions. Partnership with Israel is dedicated to strengthening personal relationships between Jews in America and Israel through school, culture and medical exchange programs.
