Eric Murray, Executive Director of Senior Care and Services

Eric Murray has over 20 years of progressive healthcare experience in a variety of settings including hospital, inpatient rehabilitation, therapy services, skilled nursing/long term care, home health, hospice, and private duty nursing.  

Originally beginning his professional journey as a licensed physical therapist, Murray continued to accept greater responsibilities over his 21 years with Alliance Community Hospital, eventually serving as the vice president of post acute care.  Murray was instrumental in the development of a high quality post acute network that worked with area physicians, hospitals, and nursing homes to develop initiatives designed to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction while reducing the cost of delivering care. Murray is a licensed nursing home administrator, certified executive for assisted living, and certified executive for home care and hospice. He graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science in physical therapy and the University of Akron where he earned an MBA with a concentration in finance.

Charlene Apel, Admissions and Marketing Director

Charlene comes to us with extensive experience in healthcare having worked as a nurse and then completing a bachelor of arts degree in gerontology, which she obtained from Kent State University. During that time, she completed her administrator-in-training program at Heritage Manor in 2001. Thereafter, she worked at Levy Gardens, our assisted living residence. Charlene also has management experience in running an assisted living dementia unit. She has been our admissions/marketing nurse since 2008, and brings a sensitive and comprehensive perspective to the needs of the applicant and the family.

Shane Baldwin, Director of Operations

Shane studied at the University of Akron and graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration. Shane completed his administrator-in-training at Community Skilled Healthcare Center in Warren and obtained his license in May 2017 before joining the Heritage Manor team in July of 2017.

Bobbie Berkowitz, Activities Director

Bobbie started as an activities aide in 1998 and was promoted to activities director in 2002. Bobbie's enthusiasm, energy, and passion are displayed every day within the activities, events, and programs she arranges for both residents and their families.

Debbie Kascak, Social Worker

Debbie came to work at Heritage Manor in 2007 as our social worker. She had extensive experience in activities, as well as social services, having worked previously at a nursing home for 15 years. Debbie brings sensitivity, advocacy, and commitment to the residents and their families.

Tom Skook, Food Service Supervisor

Tom has been with Heritage Manor since his 18th birthday in 1975. He started as an assistant cook and became the food service supervisor in 1983. He has done an outstanding job in maintaining our Kosher food service department. His culinary skills are truly superb.

Joe Swantner, Maintenance Supervisor

Joe started out at Heritage Manor in maintenance in 1996 and was promoted to maintenance supervisor in 2000. Joe brings a diverse skill set and takes pride in maintaining the structure, grounds, and equipment, as well as making sure that all residents' equipment is working properly.

Joyce Sekarak, Office Coordinator

Joyce came to Heritage Manor in 1990 and was responsible for billings and other office functions. She has become the expert in all phases of insurance billing. She advocates and pursues reimbursement on behalf of the residents.
