Dr. Einav Rabinovitch-Fox of Case Western University will discuss the ways the fashion and textile industry played an important role in Jewish immigrants' assimilation during the late 19th and early 20th century. She will show how the garment industry became an important avenue for Jews to enter the middle-class, gain political influence, and create a community in the new country.
About the Speaker:
Einav Rabinovitch-Fox is a visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of History at Case Western Reserve University. Einav holds a PhD in History from New York University in 20th Century U.S. history with a particular focus on Women's and Gender History.
