Heritage Manor is currently seeking a part-time (30 hours per week) medical billing specialist in its skilled nursing facility.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to read and write in English and has basic mathematical ability.
  • Communicates with residents, families, personnel and other support agencies in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Speaks clearly and makes self understood in face to face interactions.
  • Ability to speak and write with extreme accuracy and precision to give directions, speak on the phone, and fill out applications.
  • Ability to type and transfer calls to appropriate departments.
  • Concentrates on details with some interruptions.
  • Ability to walk, stand, kneel, bend, push, pull, and fine hand coordination.
  • Communicate and respond to person at front window and to give or get information from the person.
  • Has visual and hearing acuity to detect emergencies.
  • Remains calm under stress.
  • Computer literate with good typing skills, knowledgeable in using office equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Possess some knowledge of correspondence work, telephone and filing procedures.
  • Possess basic knowledge of accounting.
  • Experience in Medical billing preferred.
  • One year experience in coding preferred using ICD10 and CPT codes

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Assist Office Coordinator with multiple monthly billings to include:
  • Medicare
  • MyCare Ohio Medicaid
  • Medicaid
  • HMO’s
  • Veteran’s Administration
  • Private payers
  • Other insurances and payers as needed.
  • Billing for Adult Daycare participants to various payer sources, including:
  • Area Agency on Aging\
  • MyCare Ohio Medicaid
  • Veteran’s Administration
  • Private payers
  • Cross trained in billing for Transportation, Meals on Wheels, and Counseling services provided by Jewish Family Services to all of the agencies listed above and maintain Excel spreadsheets for same.
  • Checks electronic remits on a daily basis from various payers.
  • Follows up on insurance claims, claims resolution, and records variances.
  • Verifies insurance information prior to resident admission and as needed.
  • Works with Admissions/Social Worker to obtain re-certifications
  • Acts as receptionist when none is available.
  • Performs various other duties as may be assigned by CEO and/or the Office Coordinator.
  • Knowledgeable of and observes Heritage Manor’s Rules and Regulations and Residents’ Bill of Rights.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of personal health information
  • Works closely with MDS nurse to ensure proper diagnosis codes are selected and entered in section of MDS
  • Along with other office personnel, helps provide counter service to residents, visitors and resident families
