Veterans of Heritage Manor Rehabilitation and Retirement Community, Adult Day Services, and Levy Gardens Assisted Living, as well as employees of those agencies, were honored in a “We Honor Veterans” ceremony on Veteran’s Day. Each veteran received a pin, certificate, flag, and sign for their door that indicates a veteran lives there. “We’ve been doing this program for several years at the Home, and every year I think it gets better. We have a great group of veterans with us,” said Cristal Vincent, CEO of Heritage Manor, Levy Gardens, and Adult Day Services. “On behalf of the Federation and Heritage Manor, I just want to thank each and every one of you who has served our country; and we do appreciate the sacrifices that you’ve made—not only you but your families as well—so thank you.”

Representatives from Hospice of the Valley and Disabled American Veterans were present to help honor the 39 veterans recognized that day. “We Honor Veterans” is a national hospice provider awareness campaign conducted by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs. The event was sponsored by Hospice of the Valley. “This is a very small thing that we can do to just tell you thank you,” said
Tizzy Grischow, Hospice of the Valley volunteer manager. “Those are two simple words, but I hope that you feel today that we are really showing our appreciation for your service and your sacrifice to our country.”
