Archive & Interactive Maps
Project Goal
The goal of this project is to create a publicly-accessible, digital database of burial records of seven Jewish cemeteries in the greater Youngstown area, each paired with an interactive map. This is a collaboration between the History Program at Youngstown State University (YSU), the Youngstown Area Jewish Cemeteries Association (YAJCA), and the YSU Center for Applied GIS. By the end of this project, students will have gained new skills and valuable experience in digital humanities methodologies. The finished product will allow for community engagement and offer an active archive to the Jewish community.
