Knox Street Cemetery
The property on Knox Street in Youngstown, Ohio was purchased from the estate of John Knox in 1897 by the Order of Benjamin David Lodge 58 of the Independent Order of Free Sons of Judah. Congregation Ohev Tzedek, with no cemetery of its own, took control from 1946 to 1953, but relinquished it to the Youngstown Benevolent Society when they merged with Congregation Shaarei Torah. The cemetery on Tippecanoe Road came with the merger.
From that point, Carl Waldman cared for the cemetery until his death in 1953, at which time his son Arthur took over. When he retired the Jewish Federation of Youngstown took over the care.
It is no longer in use. The gate is always locked. Visit the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation, 505 Gypsy Lane, for a key.
