“The Commandant’s Shadow” follows Hans Jürgen Höss, the 87-year-old son of Rudolf Höss, as he faces his father’s terrible legacy for the first time. His father was the Camp Commandant of Auschwitz and masterminded the murder of over a million Jews. This Yad Vashem award-winning film tells the story of the real people who lived on site at Höss’ death camp. This film will be shown on the eve of Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. Attendees are encouraged to visit the Thomases Family Endowment of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation Art Gallery to view the opening of the Vad Vashem exhibit - “A Place on Earth: The Auschwitz Album,” which is showing until April 30.
