Jewish Journal

 

Published six times a year by the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation, the Jewish Journal offers current local, national, and world news of Jewish interest. The publication has received major grants from the Schermer Trust, The Maurice and Florence Lipscher Charitable Trust and ZOA. It is mailed to members of the Jewish community in Mahoning and Trumbull counties in Ohio and Mercer and Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania. Read by some 6,000 people, the Journal is distributed by email to more than 5,100 individuals, and is available in every branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County and the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library. It is also available for download on the Federation website.

Advertising

Advertising is due by the 15th of each month for the next edition, unless otherwise noted. Exact publication and deadline dates are available upon request. The Jewish Journal, printed on premium newsprint, is 10.875”x12.375” and is four columns wide. There are special holiday issues three times a year.

Submissions

The Jewish Journal accepts opinion columns and articles. Send submissions to journal@jewishyoungstown.org as a word document. Include name and contact information. Acceptance is at the discretion of the editor and may be edited for clarity. Submissions may be edited for length and/or clarity. The JJ does not assume the responsibility for the kashruth of any product or service advertised on its pages.

JJ Mission Statement

  • The Youngstown Jewish Journal, a publication of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation, strives to-
    • Provide a major tool of community communication for the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation and its affiliated agencies;
    • Present current local, national and world news of Jewish interest;
    • Offer timely commentary, interpretation, analysis, and authentic background on events of the day for the purpose of encouraging the concern and response vital to our responsibilities as American and Jews;
    • Enrich the cultural interest of individuals and the community through articles, features, reviews and other material of both local and national Jewish content and interest;
    • Provide a communication tool to enable all members of the Jewish community to express their viewpoints on issues of Jewish importance and interest;
    • Demonstrate commitment to the progress and continuity of Jewish life in the U.S., especially our local area, Israel and around the world.
