Volunteer

We invite you to participate in hands-on volunteer experiences that impact the life of someone in need, in our Jewish and the general community, in Israel and abroad. All Youngstown Area Jewish Federation agencies have volunteer opportunities available throughout the year. Please check the volunteer opportunities below.

Volunteer Opportunities

JCC of Youngstown

  • Suzi Solomon Golf Outing
    • 10 to 15 volunteers needed. Help with setup, registration, and work on holes. 3 - 4 hour commitment.
  • Purim Carnival
    • Multiple volunteers needed throughout the Purim Carnival.

Jewish Family & Community Services

  • Passover & Rosh Hashanah Baskets - Volunteers needed to pass out about 15 baskets for both Passover and Rosh Hashanah.
    • 2 - 5 volunteers needed. 4-hour shifts each day.
  • Aging Well Programs - Volunteers needed to help Coordinate speakers with Outreach Coordinator, Lynne Azar.
    • 2 - 4 volunteers needed. 
  • Tech Tuesdays - Volunteers needed to help attendees with learning technology.
    • 4 - 5 Akiva Academy/National Honor Society students. 1-hour shifts twice per month.
  • Outreach - Volunteers needed to help visit seniors in the community that JFCS keeps in regular contact with.
    • 4 - 5 volunteers. 1-hour shifts once to two times per month.

Jewish Community Relations Council

  • Canfield Fair - Volunteers needed to man the booth at the Canfield Fair (Wednesday before Labor Day through Monday of Labor Day).
    • 72 - 96 shifts over six days, 3 - 4 people per shift. Shifts will be in 4-hour increments.
  • Mitzvah Day
    • 30 - 60 volunteers needed for the day. Shifts will be in 4-hour increments.
  • Voter Registration - Volunteers will register people to vote at both the outdoor drive through and indoor table registration stations.
    • 30 volunteers needed for the day. Shifts will be in 4-hour increments.

Senior Living by Youngstown Area Jewish Federation

  • Weekly Activities – Volunteers are needed to help with weekly activities at each agency.
    • 3 – 5 volunteers needed. Shifts will be 1 – 2 hours long on weekends.

JMeals

  • JMeals Food Drive Through
    • 5 - 10 volunteers needed. Help package and distribute meals during drive throughs. 2 - 3 hour commitment.
