Jewish Family & Community Services and the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown held a successful JMeals food distribution drive-through in March for Youngstown residents.
More than $16,000 worth of food including fresh meats, eggs, milk, canned goods, fruit and vegetables were distributed to over 140 Youngstown residents. Each family also received a $50 Save-A-Lot voucher through the Emergency Food and Shelter Program of Mahoning County.
Elaine and John Kawecki, owners of Save-A-Lot, donated $1,000 and the Mahoning Youngstown Community Action Partnership granted $15,000.
The Kaweckis, their staff, and Youngstown State University students helped with the distribution.
