Fidencio Hernandez
January 12, 1943 - August 11, 2023
Fidencio Hernandez of Franklin, NC, passed away on August 11, 2023, at the age of 80 after a lengthy decline due to Alzheimer’s Disease. He spent his final days at Grandview Manor and Angel Medical Center in Franklin.
Fidencio was born in Ybor City, Tampa, Florida. He attended Jefferson High School and earned an Associate’s Degree from Hillsborough Community College. He was a professional musician, who played trumpet and percussion in many groups, both in Tampa and in western North Carolina. He was a singer as well, performing with small groups and in large ensembles. He was a barber by trade and owned Frank’s Barber Shop in Franklin. He also worked as a vocational specialist in the Pinellas County (Florida) school system for several years.
Fidencio was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fidencio and Juana Garcia, his father Gaspar Hernandez, his mother Elena Rebon, his stepfather Francisco Rebon, his brother Gaspar Hernandez, his stepsister Esperanza Ramos, and two wives, Irene Comellas of Tampa and Margaret Kimsey of Franklin.
He is survived by his wife, Dr. Kathy Zoss of Franklin; two children, Anita Forgey (Marc) and Jose Gonzalez (Melissa), both of Tampa; stepdaughter, Lesley Wilson of Franklin, seven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Clayton Davis, M.D. and his staff for their excellent and compassionate care. They also wish to thank the staff of Grandview Manor, the staff of Four Seasons Hospice, and the staff at Angel Medical Center for their kindness, support, and attentive care.

Macon Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. There was a memorial service at the family home in Franklin on August 20, 2023.
